7/11/2007 The Animal Care Technician works directly under the supervision of the Animal Care Supervisor. Responsibilities include the proper handling, caring, and exercising of pet guests, or any other performance of daily work necessary for the benefit of business and care of boarding or grooming animals as directed by a superior. He/she must be familiar with and able to demonstrate proper response to common signs of animal disease and distress, correctly check and update all notes (citing any unnoted toys and highlighting any specific temperament or medical conditions) and know proper procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. When in contact with a customer, the Animal Care Technician is courteous, smiles, and skillfully handles his/her pet guests. He/she is required to pass the ABKA Kennel Technician Program within 3 months of appointment date with the expense being borne by the The Barkley™ as long as technician remains in employment for 6 months after taking education tests. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits; however, qualified part-time employees may be used in busy seasons.
