7/11/2007 The Animal Care Associate works directly under the supervision of the Animal Care Supervisor. His/her responsibilities include the proper handling, caring, and exercising of pet guests, or any other performance of daily work necessary for the benefit of business and care of boarding or grooming animals as directed by a superior. The Animal Care Associate regularly cleans thoroughly, in a systematic manner, where needed, without getting toys, bedding, or pet guests wet; he/she removes any defecation seen, and records/initials each entry. The Animal Care Associate assists the reception desk with the checking in/out of dogs and/or loading in and out of transportation vehicles, takes notice if pets are dirty and notifies Supervisor, keeps kitchen areas neat and clean, tidies all rooms/hallways, maintains laundry, knows location of cleaning and food supplies and notifies Supervisor when supply is low. A strong comfort with dogs/cats is preferred, however, no experience is required. When Animal Care Associate is in contact with a customer, he/she acts courteous, smiles, and skillfully handles his/her pet guest. He/she is required to pass the ABKA Kennel Technician Program within 3 months of appointment date with the expense being borne by the The Barkley™ as long as he/she remains in employment for 6 months after taking such education tests.
